The Optimal and Safe Medication Administration (OSMA) Workshop is a comprehensive, interactive 5-hour training session for up to 20 staff
This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide nursing care to a person with diabetes including assessing needs, planning and implementing nursing interventions, evaluating outcomes, and educating the person on the condition and available resources.
This unit applies to enrolled nursing work carried out in consultation and collaboration with registered nurses, and under supervisory arrangements aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) regulatory authority legislative requirements. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian Standards, and industry codes of practice.
Although there are no prerequisites for this unit of competency, students must be an enrolled nurse and registered with APHRA.
You’ll be asked to provide evidence of this when you enrol.
This course is delivered as a standalone unit of competency.

At the end of this program student will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of Competency. HLTENN057 Contribute to the nursing care of a person with diabetes
MediLearn does not engage with any third parties for the delivery and assessment of this course and does not guarantee that a student will successful complete this course or particular employment outcomes.
During this course you will gain the skills and knowledge to:
1. Identify diabetes care services in the Australian health care environment
2. Assess the needs of a person with diabetes
3. Perform nursing interventions to assist in achieving and maintaining optimal diabetes health
4. Evaluate care plan for a person with diabetes, and support a person’s self-management
