Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become weak and fragile, increasing the risk of fractures. Fractures can lead to reduced mobility, chronic pain, loss of independence and premature death.

Age among other factors increase the risk of osteoporosis. This module highlights the risk factors; the non-modifiable and modifiable. It also discusses the treatment options together with important considerations for these treatments. Non-pharmacological interventions are also prudent in this group to minimse the risks associated with osteoporosis.
